Fire is essential for keeping warm and cooking

Fire Making
During their stay in the wilderness it is quite clear that Brad and Sean must build a fire. This fire will have several purposes such as warmth, light in the evenings, a stove and possibly other things they will learn about as it is experienced.

On the cool October nights they will need fire to warm their bodies as well as cook some of the meat they intend to be eating to light a fire.
This along with shelter and bush craft will enable them to survive the wild North.
